Carpentry is a nationally designated trade under the Inter-provincial Red Seal program. Carpenters build and repair wide variety of structures made of wood and its substitutes. Their work also covers construction companies, contractors and maintenance departments while some are self-employed. Carpenters assemble and erect forms for concrete, wood and metal frame construction and instruments to prepare for excavating while conforming to plans, specifications and local building codes. Their work on smaller projects includes direct concrete placement, and installment of finish materials both outside and inside such as siding, doors, windows and cabinets.

Carpentry Apprenticeship Level 1-4 Challenge Exam Refresher Course

The term of apprenticeship for a carpenter is four years (four 12 month periods) that includes on-the-job training and technical training. Out of these 4 levels , some levels of apprenticeship may or may not be challenge-able, depending on the province. We offer 4o hour refresher courses to prepare for challenge level exams.

Carpentry IP (Inter-Provincial) Red Seal Challenge Exam Refresher Course

Once carpenters have worked in their field for a requisite number of hours (requirements must be verified through the provincial apprenticeship board) then carpenters may wish to write the provincially administered exam for IP Red Seal for Carpentry, which will qualify him/her to work anywhere in Canada.For  qualified candidates (approved by apprenticeship board), we offer a 40-hour refresher course that will prepare them to challenge the Inter-Provincial Red Seal examination.Information pertaining to the eligibility requirements for challenging level exams or Inter-Provincial (IP) Red Seal exam can be found by calling local apprenticeship board office in the province or territory where the candidate resides.
